the storm
I just landed at the kolkatta station.i grumbled because this trip was the last thing that i wanted in the perfectly ruined life of mine. i thought it was just a duty to fullfill.something else was planned for me.
in my kakas house i sat and watched tv.i did not enter to those adult discussions.where they gossiped about their age old stories.my cousin told me that it would be 'fun' to look around the village.i sighed and got dressed. here i will like to remark that i am a girl who developed a kind of apathy living twelve years in Mumbai. in the process to act cool and different from everyone i became like everybody else.
well back to my incident now. i thought we will go somewhere in rickshaw.rickshaw here means cycle-rikshaws suited perfectly for the kaccha roads. i got out and saw my cousin standing with his bycycle.he asked me to sit in the front rod.with disgust i took a towel placed it and sat on the rod.he sat on the seat and paddled through the road.as i saw the soft velvetish grey of the sky my cousin started conversing with me .
i cannot tell you what exactly happened but me being so called the 'city girl' dissapeared.my memory had been repressed for so long that it started taking over me.all of a sudden i did not care much.we were just two kids enjoying the local streets.suddenly the 'kalbaisakhi' storm started. the clouds turned dark yet beautiful.i could see the the lining of trees by every strike of lightning.as my cousin wheeled his cycle through the muddy path the cold winds slapped my face.it started raining and i was soaked. every drop of rain was like the first drop of water that ran on my skin.
as we paddled along the vehicle we surpassed evrything -wind, time people. we talked and laughed and forgot everything around. we were on a time machine going back though we moved forward.
as we raeched home i saw a face not scared .she knew it was midnight but also the dawn of new day.
